It appears that symbol resolution is broken in WPA Preview (v11.10.71), though it might not be obvious from within MS.
WPA does not download PDBs. [But if you already have SymCache files cached (or available via //symcache server) then symbols will resolve.]

  • Delete or rename c:\Symbols and c:\SymCache
  • Launch WPA with a .ETL trace which has providers with stackwalks.
  • In WPA > Trace > Configure Symbol Paths > Reset Paths & SymCache

*** BUG: The default path is: srvC:\Symbolshttp://msdl... It should be: HTTPS, not HTTP

  • In WPA > Trace > Load Symbols (Confirm connected to the internet.)

*** BUG: Symbols do not load.

  • In WPA > Windows > Symbols Hub

*** BUG: All the modules are Unprocessed or Error

*** NOTE: This works fine on the Released version, v11.8.423

Q: What do I need to do differently now in the Preview version?
