I Want to Use Voice Typing to Talk Instead of Type in Copilot

I have tried multiple times to voice type while using Copilot, and even ironically while using Copilot, and the AI assistant isn't able to help. I read an article in Microsoft support on voice typing and it states, "I must be connected to the internet, have a working microphone, and have my cursor in a text box." I don't have a microphone connected to my HP laptop. I do have a Pyle microphone but can't see how I can connect it to my HP laptop. If I tap on the sound wave bar on the screen a box appears that says "go to Settings," but no direction as to what I do in Settings.

To use voice typing with Copilot on Windows, these conditions must be met:

    1. The PC must be connected to the internet.
    2. A working microphone must be available.
    3. The cursor must be inside a text box.

For Copilot chat, activate the chat message box first, then press Windows + H and start speaking.

Since no microphone is currently connected, start by checking whether the HP laptop already has a built-in microphone:

    1. Open Start > Settings > System > Sound.
    2. Under Input, check whether an internal microphone appears.
    3. Speak and see whether the input meter responds.
    4. If it appears but does not work, increase the Input volume.

If voice typing says to go to Settings, also check microphone permission:

    1. Open Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
    2. Turn on Microphone access.

If voice typing still does not enter text after speaking:

    1. In Settings > System > Sound > Input, confirm the correct microphone is selected.
    2. If using an external microphone, make sure it is properly connected to the PC.
    3. Try recording in Sound Recorder to confirm the microphone is working.
    4. If words are not entered correctly, move to a quieter location.
    5. Press Windows logo key + Spacebar and make sure the correct language is selected.

If the laptop has no working built-in microphone, the external microphone must be connected and recognized by Windows before voice typing in Copilot can work.
