I received invitation to my gmail and once link is open I cant move forward as Microsoft drags my old email (i have no access for 25 years) for verification and code sending. Why now new gmail and how to delete forever that old email?

    Hi Nonna

Based on your description, it appears that the Gmail address that received the SharePoint invitation is already associated with an existing Microsoft account. When you attempt to sign in, Microsoft is recognizing that account and asking you to verify your identity using an old email address that is registered as a security verification method. Microsoft cannot remove or bypass a security verification method unless ownership of the account is successfully verified.

Here are some things you can try:

    • Confirm that you are signing in with the same Gmail address that received the SharePoint invitation.
    • If prompted during sign-in, look for options such as Use another verification method; I don't have these anymore; Account recovery
    • If you no longer have access to the old verification email address and there are no alternative verification methods available, try the Microsoft Account Recovery form: https://account.live.com/acsr

Regarding permanently removing the old email address, this can only be done after you regain access to the Microsoft account. Once signed in, you can update or remove outdated security information from the account settings.

If account recovery is unsuccessful, a practical alternative is to ask the SharePoint site owner to:

    • Remove the existing guest user entry (if applicable).
    • Send a new SharePoint invitation to a different email address that you currently control.
    • Accept the invitation using that new email address and ensure any associated Microsoft account has current security information.

Simply receiving a new SharePoint invitation to the same Gmail address may not resolve the problem if that Gmail address is already linked to the existing Microsoft account. Microsoft will continue to use the account and its registered security information during sign-in. In such cases, using a different email address for a new invitation is often the quickest solution.

I hope this information helpful and if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask via comment section
