My Designer button (for photos) has disappeared when I open the photo app.

Try these checks first:

Open Microsoft Photos and double-click a single photo so it opens by itself.
Select Edit and look for Edit with Designer.
Make sure the device is connected to the internet.
Make sure the app is signed in with a personal Microsoft account.

If Designer still does not appear or open, repair the component it depends on:

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
Search for Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
Select Modify > Repair.
Restart the PC.

If it still does not work:

In Settings > Apps > Installed apps, uninstall Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
Reinstall the WebView2 Evergreen Standalone Installer.
Run the installer as administrator.
Restart the PC and try Edit with Designer again.

If the goal is to keep editing photos immediately, Microsoft Designer is also available on the web with a Microsoft account.

Hi, @Amy Bentley

First, open a single photo in the Microsoft Photos app. The Designer button should appear in the title bar when viewing one photo.

Also try updating Photos:

Open Microsoft Store.
Go to "Library."
Select "Check for updates" and install any update for Microsoft Photos.
Restart Photos and check again.

If it is still missing, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Photos > Advanced options, then select "Repair."

To help narrow this down:

Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?
Is the Designer button missing for every photo you open?
Are you signed into the Photos app with your Microsoft account and connected to the internet?

i can't figure this out. i paid extra for microsoft 365 premium so i could get unlimited designer use. it was working up until last week. can i schedule a call?

I am using Windows 11. Yes, the Designer button is missing for every photo I open. Yes I am signed into the photos app with my microsolft account and connected to the internet. The Microsoft Designer app has disappeared from both my desktop and my laptop.

hi john. thanks for following up. still can’t access designer from the photos app. marlene appears to have same issue! it’s frustrating because i upgraded my subscription to include unlimited access to designer.

Thanks for confirming. You’re not the only one reporting this. Other users have recently reported that the Designer button suddenly disappeared from the Photos app as well.

This may be an issue or recent change with the Photos/Designer integration rather than your Microsoft 365 subscription.

As a quick test, please go to https://designer.microsoft.com and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for your Microsoft 365 Premium subscription.

Does Designer work normally there?
Can you open and edit a photo there?
Also, are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?

If Designer works on the website, that would indicate your Designer access is still active and the problem is specifically with the Photos app integration.
