This does not point to the Microsoft account itself blocking the keyboard. The supported guidance points more to a Windows input, driver, Bluetooth, or accessibility setting issue.
Try this in order:
- Check Accessibility keyboard settings
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and make sure these are Off:- Filter Keys
- Sticky Keys
- Toggle Keys
- Remove any Bluetooth keyboard conflict
Since this started after setup and sign-in, remove any paired Bluetooth keyboard temporarily:- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices
- Remove the Bluetooth keyboard if one is listed
- Turn Bluetooth off
- Restart the laptop
- Test the built-in keyboard before pairing anything again
- Reinstall the keyboard driver
- Press Windows + X and open Device Manager
- Expand Keyboards
- If a keyboard device shows a yellow warning sign, right-click it and Uninstall
- If a keyboard device is disabled, right-click it and Enable
- If needed, right-click each keyboard device and choose Uninstall device
- Restart Windows so the driver reinstalls automatically
- Check language/input settings
If what is typed does not match what appears, go to Start > Settings > Time & language > Region & language and make sure the keyboard input language matches the display language. - Check Windows Update
Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install the latest updates. Microsoft notes that special keys not functioning can mean the PC does not have the latest updates. - Test whether this is hardware or Windows
Connect the keyboard to another PC if possible, or test with another keyboard on this laptop. If the built-in keyboard does not work at all and the device also fails elsewhere, replacement may be needed. - Use the sign-in screen OSK only as a temporary workaround
On the sign-in screen, select the Ease of Access button in the lower-right corner, then select On-Screen Keyboard.
If this has happened on two different new laptops after signing in, the strongest next checks are:
- Accessibility keyboard settings
- Bluetooth/input-device conflicts
- Keyboard driver reinstall
- Windows updates
That pattern is not supported as a Microsoft account profile issue in the provided guidance.
