Hi Jill Dougherty,
Have you had a chance to try the suggestions in the AI Answer above, and if so, how did it go? If the keyboard is still not working, I suggest trying the following additional checks.
First, please test the keyboard in a new local Windows account:
- Using the on-screen keyboard, open Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account.
- Select "I don’t have this person’s sign-in information" > "Add a user without a Microsoft account".
- Create the account, sign out of the current account, and test the physical keyboard in the new account before connecting it to your Microsoft account.
If the keyboard works in the new account, it may indicate a user-specific setting, startup program or problem with the original Windows profile.
If the issue also occurs in the new account, visit the laptop manufacturer’s official support website and search using the exact model number. Install any recommended chipset, keyboard/input, HID, hotkey and firmware updates that match the device and its Windows 11 version, then restart the laptop.
Could you also open Start, type winver using the on-screen keyboard and select OK? Please share the Windows version and OS build shown in the window but redact any personal information before posting a screenshot.
Please let me know whether the keyboard works in the new local account and whether installing the manufacturer’s updates makes any difference.
