Thank you, there were some great replies. U think I have sorted it now. A rule had been applied to my email as well but cleared that and set up more verification. Seems to be working well again.

Please help me understand your current situation?

1 -- Have you recovered access to your account? i.e. Can you now send and receive email normally?

2 -- Your question is only about the emails that were sent to you during the two weeks after Aug 18?

3 -- You have looked in your Deleted Items and Recoverable folder and did not find them?

Then I am sorry, but those emails are gone. Microsoft does not maintain any backup of your emails.

    Hi Susan Hooper,

One thing that may help narrow this down is determining whether the missing emails were actually delivered to the account during the two-week period after the compromise.

If you have already regained access to your Outlook account, try reviewing your account activity and mail settings for any unexpected changes. In some account compromise cases, forwarding rules or filters may have been added, causing messages to be redirected to another folder or even another email address without the account owner's knowledge.

You may also want to contact a few of the people who sent you important emails during that period and ask whether their messages were successfully delivered or if they received any non-delivery reports. This can help determine whether the emails reached the mailbox in the first place.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors, and other community members do not have access to Microsoft's back-end systems and cannot determine whether specific messages were delivered, moved, or deleted from an individual mailbox.

Have you already regained full access to the account, and are you currently able to send and receive new emails normally? That information may help the community suggest the most relevant next steps. Thank you so much for your understanding.

If the account was hacked, the missing messages may have been moved or deleted. Check these places in Outlook.com on a computer:

    1. Deleted Items
      • Open Deleted Items.
      • If the messages are there, select them and choose Restore.
      • If they are not there, at the top of the message list select Recover items deleted from this folder.
      • Select the messages and choose Restore.
      • Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
    2. Archive
      • Open the Archive folder.
      • If the messages are there, select them and choose Move to > Inbox.
    3. Junk Email
      • Open Junk Email.
      • If the messages are there, select them and choose Report > Not junk.
      • Messages in Junk Email are automatically removed after 30 days and are not recoverable.
    4. Other tab
      • If Focused Inbox is enabled, check the Other tab.
      • If a message is there, select it and choose Move to > Move to Focused inbox.
    5. Rules and filters
      • Above the message list, select Filter and set it to All.
      • Check Rules settings and remove or edit any rule that is moving messages out of the inbox.
      • Rules can only be viewed and edited on a computer.
    6. Secure the account
      • Before changing the password, run a full malware scan on the PC: Windows Security > Virus and threat protection > Scan options > Full scan > Scan now.
      • Then change or reset the password.
      • Check account settings for unexpected changes in connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
      • Review the Recent activity page to see sign-ins from the last 30 days.

If the missing emails do not appear in Deleted Items, Recover items deleted from this folder, Archive, Junk Email, or Other, and they were permanently removed, they cannot be recovered.

If self-help does not resolve it, use Outlook.com support from Help in Outlook.com, or the Microsoft account recovery helper.
