Copilot iPad app not syncing cloud chat history

I am experiencing a chat history synchronization issue that appears to be isolated to the Copilot iPad app.

Environment:

  • Same personal Microsoft account on all devices
  • Copilot app updated to the latest version
  • iPadOS fully updated
  • Windows Copilot app and iPhone Copilot app both display the same complete chat history
  • Copilot in Safari on the iPad also displays the correct cloud chat history

Issue:

  • The Copilot iPad app does not show the same conversation history as Windows, iPhone, or Safari on the same iPad.
  • The account email and profile are correct in the iPad app.
  • The cloud history clearly exists because it is visible in Safari, Windows, and iPhone.

Troubleshooting already completed:

  • Signed out and back into Copilot multiple times
  • Deleted and reinstalled the Copilot iPad app multiple times
  • Rebooted the iPad
  • Verified the same Microsoft account is being used on all devices
  • Confirmed Safari on the iPad shows the correct conversation history

Expected behavior:

  • The Copilot iPad app should display the same cloud-synchronized chat history that is visible in Safari, Windows, and iPhone.

Actual behavior:

  • The iPad app shows a different or incomplete conversation history.

Please investigate whether this is a synchronization or account-token issue specific to the iPad client. I am experiencing a chat history synchronization issue that appears to be isolated to the Copilot iPad app.

Is this a synchronization or account-token issue and how do I resolve it?

    Hi Seth,

Thank you for providing the detailed information and for already performing many of the common troubleshooting steps.

Based on your description, the cloud chat history appears to be available and synchronized correctly, since the same conversations are visible in the Copilot app on Windows and iPhone, as well as through Safari on the same iPad. This suggests the issue may be isolated to the iPad application rather than the account or cloud-stored history itself.

You may want to try the following additional checks:

    • Verify that the Copilot app and Safari are signed into the exact same Microsoft account by comparing the account details shown in each client.
    • In the Copilot iPad app, sign out, close the app completely from the app switcher, then sign back in and allow a few minutes for synchronization to complete.
    • If a VPN, content filter, or network security application is enabled on the iPad, temporarily disable it and check whether the conversation history refreshes.
    • Test the Copilot app while connected to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to rule out a network-specific synchronization issue.

Since Safari on the same iPad displays the correct conversation history, continuing to use the web experience can serve as a temporary workaround while investigating the app-specific behavior.

If the issue persists after these checks, consider submitting feedback directly from the Copilot app and include details that the history is visible in Safari, Windows, and iPhone but not in the iPad application. This information can help the product team further investigate the synchronization behavior.

I understand how confusing it can be when one device shows a different conversation history than all others. Hopefully the suggestions above help identify the cause, and please feel free to share any new observations or error messages if you continue troubleshooting.
