OneDrive Vault access works from iPhone OneDrive app, but not from any MacOS Web Browser.

Is this a server side issue and is so how to resolve?
Alternatively, how to resolve/troubleshoot on the MacOS side?

Here is the error message:

Hi Richard P,

Since you can successfully access Personal Vault from the OneDrive app on your iPhone, the Vault itself and your Microsoft account appear to be functioning normally. The issue appears to be isolated to accessing Personal Vault through a web browser on macOS.

Could you please help confirm the following?

  • Which browser(s) are affected (Safari, Edge, Chrome, Firefox)?
  • Does the issue occur in a Private/Incognito window?
  • Are you signing in with your account password or using a passkey/Touch ID?
  • Does the same behavior occur across multiple browsers on the Mac?

In the meantime, please try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Sign out of OneDrive and all Microsoft accounts in the affected browser.
  2. Clear browser cookies and cache for Microsoft sites.
  3. Sign back in using your Microsoft account password instead of a passkey, if applicable.
  4. Temporarily disable any content blockers, privacy extensions, VPN software, or iCloud Private Relay.
  5. Test Personal Vault in a different browser.

The error message shown in the screenshot ("Unknown render failure") may indicate a browser session or web rendering issue rather than a problem with the Vault itself.

Please let us know the results of the above tests, and we will continue investigating with you.
