Co pilot kept loading the wrong image even after reloading the correct one = it defaulted back to the original image Then I reached my generation limit after only 4 incorrect edits by copilot. Safe to say I am very unhappy

Dear Stuart Bromley,

I understand why you are unhappy, especially since the unsuccessful edits appear to have counted toward your image-generation limit. Copilot may continue using the earlier image as context when several images or edits remain in the same conversation.

I recommend trying the steps below:

  1. Start a new Copilot conversation rather than continuing in the existing one.
  2. Select the + button, choose Add images or files, and wait until the correct image appears as an attachment.
  3. Use a clear request such as: “Edit only the image attached to this message and ignore any images used previously.”
  4. If needed, rename the corrected image before uploading it again.

You can also refer to Using Image Generation in Microsoft Copilot for guidance on how to upload an image and provide editing instructions.

If the issue continues, select Thumbs down on the incorrect result and include details about the wrong image and lost generations. In Copilot Chat, you can also select (Settings and more) in the upper-right corner of Copilot, then select Send feedback. Describe how Copilot repeatedly returned to the original image and used your available image generations on incorrect edits. This sends the details to the relevant product team for review and future improvement.

Since this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees who participate here, cannot access back-end systems. Our role is limited to offering technical guidance based on the issue, request, or feedback you have shared.

Hopefully this issue will be sorted out soon. Thank you so much for your patience!

Best regards.
