Problem description

I'm seeking assistance with restoring a domain that was accidentally deleted. The domain is associated with Azure App Service Domains, and I have performed initial checks but haven't been able to resolve the issue.

Environment

Azure App Service Domains, region not specified in the case information.

What I've already tried

I reviewed the available case details and diagnostic information. I have not attempted any further troubleshooting steps beyond this.

Current status

The restore or recovery process is ongoing, and I am seeking guidance on the next steps to successfully restore or recover the domain.

We have received an update from our internal team regarding your domain recovery request.

I am happy to inform you that the domain has been successfully recovered without any additional purchase fee. Since the domain was still within the retention period, the recovery process was completed, and the domain is now active.

As a next step, please ensure that:

Auto-renew is enabled for the domain to help prevent similar issues in the future.

The DNS zone is recreated and delegated accordingly.

Could you please verify from your side and let us know whether the issue has been resolved successfully?

Hi,

If it's been less than 7 days since you deleted your App Service Domain you may recover it by purchasing it again. You will not be charged. Please see excerpt from App Service Domain FAQ below:

You domain is no longer visible in the Azure portal or Domain was accidentally deleted

The domain may have been accidentally deleted by the owner of the subscription. If your domain was deleted less than 7 days ago , the domain has not yet started the deletion process. Hence you can buy the same domain again on Azure portal under the same subscription (make sure to type the exact domain name in search text box). You will not be charged again for this domain. If the domain was deleted more than 7 days ago , please contact Microsoft Azure supportfor assistance to restore the domain.

If you deleted the resource group that your App Service Domain was in I recommend you first re-create the resource group using same name and then purchase the App Service Domain again using same resource group and domain name.
