Unwanted picture before i sign in

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand an unwanted image is appearing on the Windows 11 lock/sign-in screen before you sign in, and you would like to remove it.

To help narrow this down:

• Is the image shown on the lock screen before pressing a key, or directly on the sign-in screen where you enter your password/PIN?
• Did the image appear after a recent Windows update or after installing any personalization or wallpaper-related software?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

Option 1: Turn off Windows Spotlight for the lock screen.

• Open Settings
• Go to Personalization > Lock screen
• Change Personalize your lock screen from Windows Spotlight to Picture or Slideshow
• Select a preferred image

Option 2: Disable the lock screen background on the sign-in screen.

• Open Settings
• Go to Personalization > Lock screen
• Turn off Show the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen

Option 3: Remove recently applied themes.

• Open Settings
• Go to Personalization > Themes
• Select a different default Windows theme
