Window won't actiavte after a bios update

A BIOS update can make Windows 11 see the PC as having a significant hardware change, which can cause activation to fail.

Try this in order:

1. Open Start > Settings > System > Activation.
2. If Troubleshoot is available, run it.
3. In the troubleshooter, choose the option for I changed hardware on this device recently.
4. If a list of devices appears, select the previously activated device and continue the reactivation steps.

If Windows still does not activate:

5. In Settings > System > Activation, check that the installed edition matches the license, such as Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro. If the edition does not match the license, Windows will not activate.
6. If there is a 25-character product key, go to Start > Settings > System > Activation > Change product key and enter it.
7. If the PC came with Windows preinstalled and the motherboard was replaced by the original manufacturer, the PC should reactivate automatically. If it does not, check whether the manufacturer provided a COA card with a 25-character key.
8. Make sure the device is connected to the internet. Windows activation requires an internet connection.

If the troubleshooter cannot find a linked device or cannot complete activation, contact Microsoft support.
