Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
For a Juno account in classic Outlook, the most relevant fixes from the documented Outlook send/receive issues are:
- Check whether Outlook is offline.
- In Outlook, look at the status bar at the bottom.
- If it shows Disconnected, Working Offline, or Trying to connect…, go to Send/Receive and select Work Offline to switch back online.
- Then try sending again.
- Confirm internet connectivity.
- Open a browser and verify that websites load.
- If the device is offline, Outlook cannot send mail.
- Check for a stuck message or oversized attachment.
- Open the Outbox.
- Start with the oldest message.
- If it includes a large attachment, remove it and try again. Some providers block large messages, and Outlook guidance specifically calls out attachments larger than 20 MB as a common cause in classic Outlook.
- If the Juno password was changed recently, update the password in Outlook.
- Outlook can fail to send if the stored password is no longer current.
- For POP3 or IMAP accounts showing authentication-related send failures, enable authentication before sending.
- The documented 0x800CCC80 cause is that the account is not configured to sign in to the incoming server before sending mail, while the provider requires SMTP authentication first.
- Use Outlook to repair the email account or enable Log on to incoming server before sending mail for the account.
- Start Outlook in safe mode.
- Press the Windows key, type outlook.exe /safe, and press Enter.
- If sending works in safe mode, an add-in or profile issue is likely involved.
- Repair Outlook or the Outlook profile.
- Repair the Outlook program.
- If that does not help, repair the Outlook profile or create a new one.
- If none of the above works, run the classic Outlook troubleshooters or contact support.
- Microsoft specifically recommends starting with the Classic Outlook troubleshooters page for send/receive issues.
