please manually unlink my son’s account from the existing family group** so I can add him to a new group you create as organizer.**

my son's email is ******@outlook.com - he needs to be added as a member not organizer.

it will not allow me to remove him from the existing family account.

    Hey there, Kristen Mullis

it will not allow me to remove him from the existing family account.

If your child has already been added to a Microsoft family, and their birthdate on their Microsoft account makes them under 18 years of age (Legal age to be classed as an adult - can vary depending on region), they will not be able to leave the Microsoft family group themselves. This is to prevent them from bypassing family restrictions that are put in place. Instead, the family organiser for that family group would need to remove them manually.

As you are unable to do this, unfortunately, you will need to open a support ticket with Microsoft support via this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactUs

Please sign into your account, through the website, and click onto "Show expanded list of products"

    User's image

Then scroll down to the blue hyperlink "Get help and support" under "Can't find your product?"

This will take you to a new page where you can type into a textbox about what you are having issues with. Please type "Manually add my child to family as they are in wrong family group"

This will show you a list of community answers on this forum. Please click onto "Contact Support" at the bottom. This will allow you to open a support request to Microsoft support.

From their, Microsoft support will be able to explore any available options to help resolve this for you. Please note I am not familiar with what tools Microsoft support have available to them, and they may not be able to help. However, they will be able to tell you what you can do to resolve this.

Microsoft also values feedback about their products and services. I would also recommend sending feedback to Microsoft about this, so the Microsoft family product group can review your feedback. To submit feedback to the Microsoft Family product group (PG), please sign into your Microsoft account here: https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

Then select the feedback option on the bottom right-hand corner of the website

This will allow you to provide feedback straight to Microsoft about their product.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
