Hello @Robin Taber,
Based on your description, I tested this scenario in my PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 environment and was unable to reproduce the issue. I would like to clarify your exact scenario so I can determine whether the issue is related to the narration itself or to how the slideshow is playing it.
To make sure I'm testing the same scenario as yours, could you help clarify a few details?
- Have the narration that is already recorded on each slide play automatically when you run the presentation in Slide Show mode?
- Or are you asking whether it is possible to add or insert separate narration audio onto each slide?
If you mean the second scenario, then yes, PowerPoint allows you to record or insert audio individually on each slide, and each slide can have its own separate narration.
However, from your follow-up comment, it sounds like the narration files may already exist on all slides, but they are not playing as expected during the slideshow. To better understand what is happening, could you let me know:
- Which version of PowerPoint you are using (Microsoft 365, PowerPoint 2021, PowerPoint 2019, etc.)?
- Did you create the narration using Record Slide Show, or did you insert separate audio files onto each slide?
- When you open a slide in Normal view, do you see an audio (speaker) icon on each narrated slide?
- If you select the audio icon and go to the Playback tab, is the Start setting configured as Automatically or When Clicked On?
- During the slideshow, does Slide 1 narration play correctly while all remaining slides are silent, or do none of the slides play narration automatically?
The answers to these questions will help determine whether the issue is related to the way the narration was recorded, the audio playback settings on the slides or a slideshow setting that is preventing narrations from playing automatically.
I look forward to your update.
