For Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the Copilot entry point may not be gone—it was moved. It now opens from the Copilot Dynamic Action Button in the lower-right corner of the document, workbook, or presentation. It can also be moved next to the ribbon.

For Outlook, this change does not apply. Outlook keeps its existing Copilot entry points.

If Copilot is still missing in Microsoft 365 apps, check these common causes:

    1. Refresh the license
      • In a Windows Microsoft 365 app: File > Account > Update License.
      • Then close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps.
    2. Check privacy settings
      • Open a Microsoft 365 app.
      • Go to File > Account > Account Privacy > Manage Settings.
      • Make sure Experiences that analyze your content is turned on.
      • Make sure All connected experiences is turned on.
    3. Make sure Office is up to date
      • Install the latest Microsoft 365 app updates.
    4. If using the web apps
      • Refresh the browser page.
      • If needed, allow third-party cookies, because blocked third-party cookies can prevent Copilot from validating the license.
    5. If Outlook on Windows is the main issue
      • There is a known issue in classic Outlook for Windows where Copilot buttons can disappear after build 20026.20182 and higher.
      • Current workaround: use new Outlook or Outlook on the web.

If Copilot was manually turned off in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint while signed in with a personal Microsoft account, it can also be re-enabled by turning Enable Copilot back on in the app.
