    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check the physical connection first.
      • Make sure the capture card is firmly connected to the PC.
      • Try a different USB port on the PC.
      • Check that the headset and any audio cables are fully plugged in.
      • If headphones are plugged in, unplug them once and test again, because audio output can change depending on what is connected.
    2. Make sure Windows is using the correct output device.
      • Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      • Select the arrow to open the list of audio devices.
      • Choose the device that should play sound.
      • If multiple devices appear, test each one.
    3. Check that the device is not muted or disabled.
      • Right-click the Speakers icon on the taskbar and select Open Volume mixer.
      • Make sure none of the volume controls are muted.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      • Select the audio device and open Device properties.
      • Make sure the Disable check box is cleared.
    4. Check Device Manager for the audio device.
      • Select Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • If the audio device appears, right-click it and select Enable device if that option is available.
      • If it does not appear, select View > Show hidden devices, then Action > Scan for hardware changes.
    5. Update or reinstall the audio driver.
      • In Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • Right-click the sound device and select Update driver.
      • Select Search automatically for drivers.
      • If that does not help, right-click the device again and select Uninstall device.
      • If prompted, select the option to remove or delete the driver software.
      • Restart the PC. Save open work first, because restart is required.
      • After restart, Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
    6. If Windows still does not detect audio, install the latest driver from the device manufacturer.
      • Go to the PC or sound card manufacturer’s support site.
      • Download the latest audio driver for the installed Windows version.
      • Install it and restart the PC.
    7. Run the Windows audio troubleshooter.
      • On Windows 11, use the Get Help audio troubleshooter.
      • On Windows 10, start with the automated audio troubleshooter in Get Help.

If the problem started after a Windows update, try rolling back the audio driver in Device Manager > audio device Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver.
