Outlook Focused Inbox HELP

Hi,

Until recently, my Focused inbox worked correctly — important emails went to Focused, while marketing and promotional emails went to Other.

Now, hundreds of unrelated marketing emails are suddenly appearing in Focused. This happened all at once across many different senders.

I have already turned Focused Inbox off and back on, and it did not fix the problem. I cannot manually move hundreds of different senders to Other.

I’m now missing important emails because Focused is overwhelmed with marketing messages. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Since turning Focused Inbox off and back on already did not help, the practical next step is to retrain the sorting and reduce the noise source-by-source where possible.

    1. In Outlook on the web or new Outlook, turn Focused Inbox off again:
      • Settings > Mail > Layout
      • Under Focused Inbox, select Don’t sort my messages and save.
      • Then turn it back on again by selecting Sort messages into Focused and Other.
    2. For messages that are incorrectly landing in Focused, move them to Other:
      • Open Focused.
      • Right-click a message.
      • Select Move > Move to Other inbox.
      • For recurring senders, select Always move to Other inbox.
    3. If important mail is being missed, also check the Other tab for messages that should be prioritized:
      • Right-click the message.
      • Select Move > Move to Focused inbox.
      • Select Always move to Focused inbox for future messages from that sender.
    4. If mail seems missing from Inbox, also check:
      • Junk Email. If a message is there by mistake, select Report > Not junk.
      • Other tab, because Focused Inbox can place messages there instead of Focused.

What is supported here is that Focused Inbox learns from manual corrections over time, and sender-based “Always move” actions create consistent future behavior for those senders. There is no supported bulk reset or one-click reclassification method in the provided guidance for hundreds of unrelated senders in Outlook.com.
