My Windows 10 desktop (just barely still hanging on to windows 10) keeps randomly disconnecting my wifi, i have tried reinstalling drivers, changing power settings, allowing all firewall access to public networks even though my WiFi is private, None of the answers I've found work, and my wifi adapter is intel dual band wireless-ac 7260. Virus scan detected nothing.

Welcome The Original Starwalker,

Thank you for providing the details. Since you have already reinstalled the driver, adjusted the power settings, and confirmed that malware was not detected, I'd like to gather a little more information while trying one additional check.

Could you confirm:

  • Does the Wi‑Fi disconnect from your network completely, or does it remain connected but show "No Internet"?
  • Does the issue occur on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi networks?
  • Approximately how often does the disconnect happen?

In the meantime, please try this quick test:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager
  • Expand Network adapters and double-click Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.
  • Open the Advanced tab.
  • If available, set Roaming Aggressiveness to Lowest and click OK.

If the answer is helpful, please click "Yes". If you have extra questions about this answer, please click "Comment".

Please run Network Adapter troubleshooter from Settings app > Update & security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. See if it helps you.

If issue still persists, try to perform Network Reset:

    1. Open Settings app, click Network & Internet > Status > Network reset link.
    2. Now click on Reset button on next screen.
    3. In confirmation prompt appearing next, click Yes.

Let us know if this helps!

    Hello The Original Starwalker.

It seems that Intel is no longer releasing updated drivers for your WiFi adapter model:https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/NOTICE-Discontinued-Intel-Wireless-products-7265-Family-Rev-C/td-p/1435949

I suggest replacing your WiFi adapter with a different model or brand.
