I can't get into my onedrive personal vault on my laptop

My personal OneDrive works normally, but Personal Vault is stuck in a browser authentication loop. When I click Personal Vault, I’m told to sign in; after successful sign-in, I am returned to the locked Personal Vault screen. I have already tried private browsing, different browsers, clearing Microsoft/OneDrive cookies, and signing out/in again.

For a Personal Vault sign-in loop on a laptop browser, use this sequence:

    1. Confirm the account type is correct. If the sign-in page shows messages like "Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services'" or "cannot access the application '00000003-0000-0ff1-ce00-000000000000'", a work or school account is being used instead of the Microsoft personal account. Personal Vault for OneDrive home must be opened with the Microsoft personal account.
    2. Check whether the issue is browser sign-in state rather than Vault itself. A known Microsoft sign-in loop workaround is:
      • Go to https://login.live.com/
      • Sign in with the Microsoft personal account
      • Then open OneDrive again in a new tab and try Personal Vault
    3. On the laptop, make sure the Microsoft sign-in sites are not partially isolated by browser security settings. For Microsoft sign-in loops, these sites should either all be outside the trusted sites list, or if organizational policy requires trusted sites, all of them should be included together:
      • microsoft.com
      • support.microsoft.com and subdomains
      • login.live.com
      • login.microsoftonline.com
    4. If Personal Vault still will not open, test whether the Vault itself is current and synced:
      • Unlock Personal Vault where possible
      • Close any files stored in Personal Vault
      • Wait for sync to complete If sync is stuck, the Vault may report that it is not up to date.
    5. If the laptop has OneDrive cached credential issues, clear the cached credentials on Mac:
      • Open Keychain Access from Spotlight or Utilities
      • Search for OneDrive
      • Delete OneDrive Cached Credential
      • Run OneDrive again
    6. If OneDrive sign-in still fails, check for network blocking. Microsoft notes that firewall, VPN configuration, or the internet provider can block OneDrive sign-in. If possible, temporarily test without VPN or by using a different network such as a mobile hotspot.
    7. If the issue is specific to BT broadband with BT Web Protect enabled, disable BT Web Protect in the BT account security settings, because it can block access to OneDrive.
    8. If none of the above resolves it, use Microsoft support from the OneDrive support path:
      • For personal accounts, use Contact Microsoft Support
      • On mobile, support can also be contacted from the OneDrive app by shaking the device

    Hello Yuri Yoshizawa

Has the answer provided by AI able to help you solved this issue?

I will now provide more troubleshooting method for you to try:

Please sign out of all Microsoft accounts, close the browser completely, and then sign in to OneDrive using your account password or another non-passkey method. Once OneDrive loads, open Personal Vault and complete the additional verification separately.

If the same loop continues, I suggest contacting Microsoft Support and provide the exact error, any correlation ID, your macOS and browser versions, the verification method used, and the date and time of the latest failed attempt. This information will help support review the authentication trace. Here are the detail steps to contact:

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited solely to providing technical guidance on reported incidents, requests, or ideas.

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Technical Support" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.

In the meantime, you can also check whether the Vault opens in the OneDrive mobile app or from a Windows PC. Avoid disabling Personal Vault while you cannot access its contents.

I hope you can get the support you need,

    have a nice day.
