The new version of NotMyFault Sysinternals tool published on August 12, 2026 is incompatible with Windows 2016 and 2019. Attempting to run notmyfault64.exe results in the following error:

The procedure entry point TryCreatePackageDependency could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Sysinternals\notmyfault64.exe

The command line tool notmyfaultc64.exe just prints out the usage information without crashing the system.

Microsoft documentation states the TryCreatePackageDependency function is only supported on Windows 11 and later, making this new version incompatible with any OS published prior to Windows 11.

This breaking change was not reported when the new version of the tool was published.
