Changing between multiple Teams Free accounts within the app or browser
A Gmail address can be used as a sign-in method for a Microsoft account, but Google credentials cannot be used to sign in to a Microsoft account.
For Teams Free, a Microsoft account is required. If the Gmail address is already attached to a Microsoft account, sign in to Teams with that Microsoft account identity, not with Google sign-in.
If the account details appear wrong or the Outlook account says the address is not valid, use these steps:
- Check whether the Gmail address is added as a sign-in method for the Microsoft account at Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
- If the Microsoft account cannot be accessed, run the Sign-in Helper to identify the account problem.
- If the issue is with a work or school Teams account, contact the organization’s IT admin, because Teams sign-in problems can be caused by the company domain or Microsoft 365 account configuration.
- If a personal Microsoft account is needed for Teams Free and one does not exist yet, create a new Microsoft account using a personal email, phone number, or a new Outlook email address.
Personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts cannot be merged, but they can be used side by side.
