If the old email and phone number are no longer accessible, the supported path is to replace the account’s security info during sign-in.
- Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and try to sign in with the account.
- When prompted to verify with the old email or phone, select I don't have any of these.
- Add a new security method that is accessible now.
- The account enters a 30-day security protection period before the new security info fully replaces the old one.
This waiting period is a security feature and cannot be bypassed. During that period, changes that require a security code, including changing the sign-in email or managing aliases, are blocked.
If the account can still be accessed with another verification method, use Other ways to sign in or Show more verification methods.
After the waiting period ends:
- Go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
- Select Add email.
- Add the new email address and complete verification.
- Select Make primary if it should become the main sign-in email.
- Remove the old email only after the new alias is added and verified.
If the account cannot be signed into at all, use the account recovery process: https://account.live.com/acsr
