Open the Settings App

Follow these steps:

Step 1-Clear Windows Update cache

• Press Win + R, type: services.msc, press Enter.

• Find Windows Update, right‑click → Stop.

• Open File Explorer, paste this in the address bar and press Enter:

• Press Ctrl + A, then Delete (confirm if asked).

• Go back to Services

, right‑click Windows Update→ Start.

• Restart PC and try Windows Update again.

Step 2-Install the update manually from Microsoft Catalog

• Open Settings → Windows Update → Update history and note the KB number of the failed update (e.g., KB5120998).

• Go to: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx

• Search for that KB number, choose the row or update that exactly matches the update shown in windows update.
