For a Surface Laptop Go, the USB-C port can be used for charging, and the minimum charger requirement is 39W. If charging through USB-C is failing, use a USB-C PD charger that provides at least the same wattage as the original power supply.

    Try these steps:

    1. Check power and connections
      • Try a different power outlet.
      • Make sure all cable connections are secure.
      • Disconnect accessories that use a lot of power.
      • If charging through Surface Connect, check whether the connector LED turns on.
    2. Force restart the device
      • Select Start > Power > Shut down.
      • Wait a moment.
      • Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds until the Windows logo appears, disappears, and appears again.
    3. Troubleshoot the USB-C port
      • Unplug the USB-C device.
      • Shut down the Surface.
      • After 10 seconds, press and hold the Power button for about 20 seconds until the Windows logo appears, disappears, then appears again.
      • Plug in the USB-C device again.
      • If using a USB-C hub, connect the device directly to the Surface.
      • Use the cable that came with the device, because not all USB-C cables support all features.
    4. Check updates
      • Open the Surface app.
      • Expand Help & support.
      • If updates are available, select Check for updates to open Windows Update and install them.
    5. If the port is still not responding
      • A Microsoft Q&A accepted answer states that the USB-C port on Surface devices is built into the motherboard and is not user-replaceable.
      • If Surface app diagnostics were already run and the port still does not respond, the next step is to contact Microsoft Support or an authorized service provider to log a repair or service case.

If there is visible damage to the charging port, power connector, or cable, contact support for service.

    1. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/surface-devices
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your Surface Laptop Go
    3. Choose "Repair/replace a device" or use the "Get support" chat — click "Try the virtual agent" to get routed to a live agent
    4. You'll need your device's serial number (on the bottom of the laptop or in Settings > System > About) and proof of purchase if it's still under warranty

Since both the charging port and USB port are affected, mention that specifically — it often points to a motherboard-level fault rather than just a cable issue,
