It would be very strange if Windows security or any other security app is blocking Word from opening.

Please provide a screenshot of that security notification you are seeing.

What version of Office did you purchase, is that Office Home 2024, Office Pro Plus 2024... etc. and where did you purchase Office from, was that direct from Microsoft or form a 3rd party retailer.

A common cause is Windows security software blocking Office apps, or Office not being fully activated after purchase.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check Smart App Control
      • Open Windows Security from Start.
      • Select App & browser control.
      • Open Smart App Control settings.
      • If it is blocking Word, change it from On to Evaluation.
      • Note: turning it Off is often permanent and may require resetting or reinstalling Windows to enable it again.
    2. Confirm Office is activated
      • Open Word, if possible, and go to File > Account.
      • If Unlicensed Product or an activation error appears, Office is not activated.
      • Sign out of all accounts shown, close all Office apps, restart the PC, then sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the one-time Office purchase.
    3. Update Office
      • In File > Account, select Update Options > Update Now.
    4. Start Word in Safe Mode
      • Press Windows + R.
      • Type winword /safe and press Enter.
      • If Word opens in Safe Mode, the issue is likely an add-in.
      • Go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • In Manage, select the add-in type and choose Go.
      • Clear one add-in at a time, select OK, and restart Word normally.
    5. Repair Office
      • If Word still does not open, run an Online Repair of Office.
      • This can reinstall Office, so make sure the purchase is associated with the correct Microsoft account before starting.
    6. Check for Windows updates
      • Select Start.
      • Search for Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates and install available updates.

If the message specifically says access is blocked by policy, that can also happen when a device is managed by an organization or restricted by administrator security settings.
