For repeated Face Check failures after the name mismatch was already corrected, the supported next actions are:
- Delete the existing identity validation request.
- Remove the associated Verified ID from Microsoft Authenticator.
- Submit a new identity validation request.
- Create a new Verified ID and make sure all information is accurate.
- Complete the verification in an environment with adequate lighting.
For technical errors during Microsoft Authenticator and Verified ID validation, also do the following before retrying:
- Fully close all open instances of Microsoft Authenticator on the phone, then reopen it.
- Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version on Android or iOS.
- Clear the browser cache, or retry in a different browser.
- Avoid weak Wi‑Fi and do not use a VPN or proxy during the process.
- If possible, try a different phone, because device-specific settings or security policies can interfere.
For Face Check specifically, lighting and photo quality matter:
- Face Check can fail in bright environments or near bright windows and lights.
- Better results are recommended in darker environments, away from bright windows and overhead lights.
- The photo stored in the Verified ID should be clear enough for face comparison.
- If the source photo is blurry or low quality, Face Check accuracy can be affected.
The available documentation does not provide a supported backend reset procedure for Artifact Signing identity validation state beyond deleting the existing request and recreating the Verified ID and validation request.
