Hi Tom mitchell,

I understand that legitimate emails have stopped arriving, although spam messages are still reaching the Junk Email folder. Since this is a user-to-user Q&A forum, contributors cannot access your mailbox or review its delivery records directly.

Reinstalling Outlook would not resolve a mailbox-side issue. Please sign in directly to Outlook.com and check the following:

  1. Open Settings > General > Storage and confirm that neither the mailbox nor Microsoft cloud storage is full.
  2. Check the Other, Deleted Items, Archive, and any custom folders, then make sure Filter > Sort is set to Date.
  3. Open Settings > Mail > Rules, Forwarding, and Junk email. Disable any rule or forwarding setting that could redirect messages, and review the blocked senders list.
  4. Send a test message from another email account and ask the sender whether a non-delivery report was returned.

These checks are covered in Can’t send or receive email in Outlook.com.

If the test message does not appear anywhere and storage is available, please follow the steps below to reach an Outlook.com live chat support agent who can examine the email-delivery issue:

  1. Go to Outlook.com and sign in.
  2. Select the Help icon, the question mark, in the upper-right corner.
  3. In the Help pane that opens, search for "cannot receive emails", then press Enter.
  4. Scroll down the page until you see "Still need help?", click Yes.
  5. Choose "Chat with a support agent in your web browser."
  6. Review the issue description and confirm an email address you can access.
  7. Click Confirm to create the service request. The screen will indicate that your request has been submitted and the system is connecting you to Outlook.com live chat support, which may take a moment to load.

When connected, provide the approximate date the issue began, examples of affected senders, and whether those senders received any non-delivery messages. Do not post complete email addresses or other personal information publicly.

I hope the support team can identify why legitimate messages are no longer reaching the mailbox.
