A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Common causes are account authentication problems in OneNote:
- The password for the personal account was changed and OneNote still has old credentials.
- OneNote is signed in with a different account than the one that owns the notebook.
- Access to the notebook was removed.
For OneNote on Android with a personal account, try this path:
- Update OneNote for Android to the latest version from the Play Store, then restart the app.
- In Android, go to Settings > Accounts and confirm the personal account shown in OneNote is the correct one.
- If OneNote asks to sign in, sign in with the same personal Microsoft account that is associated with the notebook.
- If the notebook still will not sync, open https://www.onenote.com in a browser and sign in with that same account.
- If the notebook opens there, the account still has access.
- Then close the OneNote app, open https://www.onedrive.com, sign in with the same account, open the notebook from its folder, and choose Open In OneNote.
- If Android shows Account Error - Action Required and the personal account is listed by phone number only, tap Add Email in the error message to connect a valid email address. That restores syncing for affected Android users.
If the notebook does not appear in OneNote for the web, the issue is usually that the wrong account is being used or the account no longer has permission to that notebook.
