what and/or how do I keep my icons locked in the same place on my desktop screen? They were staying the same, and all of a sudden they have moved around.

    Try these checks in order:

    1. Make sure desktop icons are visible
      • Right-click an empty area of the desktop.
      • Select View.
      • Make sure Show desktop icons is checked.
    2. Restore built-in desktop icons if specific ones are missing
      • Right-click the desktop and select Personalize.
      • Select Themes.
      • Select Desktop icon settings under Related settings.
      • Check the icons to display, such as This PC or Recycle Bin.
      • Select Apply and OK.
    3. If files and shortcuts moved because the Desktop folder location changed
      • Open File Explorer and expand the OneDrive folders.
      • Right-click the Desktop folder and select Properties.
      • Open the Location tab.
      • Select Move.
      • Browse to the folder that contains the desktop icons wanted, then select Select Folder and Apply.
      • If prompted to move files from the old location to the new one, select Yes.
    4. Require sign-in when the device wakes
      • Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
      • Under Require sign-in, choose to require sign-in when waking from sleep.
      • Configure sleep settings so the screen or PC sleeps after an idle period.

The provided guidance does not include a Windows setting that locks icon positions in place. It does include ways to restore missing icons, correct the Desktop folder location, and make the screen lock automatically.

    Hi,

Check if the "Auto-arrange" and "Align to grid" options are enabled.

To check, go to the desktop > right-click > Show more options > View > and uncheck "Auto-arrange icons" and "Align icons to grid."

Give it a try and let me know if it worked.

    Thanks.
