I purchased OFFICE Professional Plus 2016 in May 2017. I have my purchase receipt, the supplied DVD, and the 25 character registration code. I installed OFFICE 2016 on my rebuilt computer. Activation over the phone is no longer available for OFFICE 2016. The computer has a LAN connection but I have no LAN internet connection available to me. How can I activate this copy of OFFICE 2016?

    Hi, Vance Johnson

You can still activate the rebuilt computer without connecting it to the Internet. The automated telephone process was moved online on December 3, 2025, but offline activation remains supported through the Product Activation Portal.

Open Word or Excel on the offline computer and start the Activation Wizard. Choose I want to activate the software by telephone, select your country, and note the Installation ID displayed in Step 2. The message saying telephone activation is no longer supported can be ignored.

On a different computer or phone that has Internet access, open the Product Activation Portal and sign in with a Microsoft account. Enter the Installation ID from the offline computer. The portal should provide a Confirmation ID, which you then type into Step 3 of the Activation Wizard on the offline computer.

If the portal rejects the key or reports too many activations, contact Microsoft Support and provide the purchase receipt and product key. Also confirm that the DVD and key came from an authorized seller, since Professional Plus is commonly supplied through volume licensing.
