A few months ago, my Microsoft Outlook account stopped syncing with my GMail account. This was true for both my laptop and my Android phone. When I received a new Android phone, the problem went away. However, the problem persists on my laptop. It appears to be a credentials issue, but I am not sure. How do I resolve?

Since Gmail now works on your new Android phone, the Gmail account itself appears accessible. Could you confirm:

Does Gmail work normally at Gmail.com?
In New Outlook, are all messages missing, or only certain folders?
Do you see any error or account warning under Settings > Accounts > Your accounts?

The Credential Manager steps involving MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 are documented for classic Outlook and may not apply to New Outlook.

For New Outlook, first confirm that IMAP is enabled in Gmail and that the affected labels use Show in IMAP. If those settings are correct, remove the Gmail account from New Outlook and add it again to refresh Google’s authorization.

Please share the exact error or warning before trying broader resets.

For a Gmail account that stopped syncing in Outlook on Windows, the most direct fix is to force Outlook to request Google sign-in again and refresh the cached credentials.

Close Outlook completely.
Open Credential Manager from the Windows Start menu.
Select Windows Credentials.
Under Generic credentials, find entries that start with MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 and correspond to the Gmail account.
Remove those Gmail OAuth credential entries.
Reopen Outlook and sign in to the Gmail account again when prompted.
If sync does not resume immediately, restart Outlook once more.

If Outlook still does not sync after that, check the Gmail-side IMAP settings:

In a browser, open Gmail.
Go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
Confirm IMAP is enabled.
Go to Settings > Labels.
Make sure the folders needed in Outlook are set to Show in IMAP.

If the account connects and receives new mail but older folders or messages are missing, that points more to Gmail IMAP or label mapping than to sign-in.

If the problem is specifically in new Outlook for Windows, another isolation step is to test the same Gmail account in a different mail client. If it syncs there, the issue is likely specific to new Outlook rather than the Gmail account itself.

If needed, remove the Gmail account from Outlook and add it again after clearing the cached OAuth credentials so Outlook shows the Google permission prompt again.
