Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
For this to work in Outlook on Android, the calendar must be in an account type that supports calendar sync. The context specifically calls out that IMAP accounts do not sync calendar and contacts. If the calendar exists only locally in classic Outlook on the PC, it will not appear in Outlook.com or in the Outlook mobile app.
Use this check and fix path:
- In Outlook on the Android phone, open Calendar and tap the three lines in the upper-left.
- Under the email accounts list, make sure Calendar is selected for the account.
- If the email address is not shown there, the account is not set up with Exchange ActiveSync.
- On Android, verify the account type.
- Go to Settings > Accounts.
- Open the mail account used in Outlook.
- It should be Exchange. If it shows IMAP, calendar sync will not work.
- If the account in Outlook mobile is not syncing, reset it.
- In the Outlook app, go to Settings > tap the account that is not syncing > Reset Account.
- Then check whether calendar items appear.
- If reset does not help, remove and add the account again.
- In Outlook mobile: Settings > tap the account > Delete Account > Delete From This Device.
- Add it back and choose Exchange ActiveSync or Exchange, not IMAP.
- If the calendar still does not appear, test whether the mailbox syncs through Outlook on the PC using Exchange.
- Set up the same email account in Outlook on the PC using the Exchange protocol.
- Create a test calendar event.
- Close Outlook, restart the PC, reopen Outlook, confirm the event is still in the calendar, then check the phone.
- If the goal is to see Outlook calendar items inside the phone’s default Calendar app as well, Outlook for Android supports this:
- In Outlook mobile, go to Settings > Calendar.
- Turn on Sync calendars.
- This exports Outlook calendars and events to the default Android calendar app.
Based on the symptoms—calendar not visible in Outlook.com or on the phone—the most likely cause is that the calendar is not stored in a sync-capable Exchange/Microsoft 365 mailbox. A blank calendar created only in classic Outlook on the PC does not make it available to Outlook.com or Outlook mobile unless it is part of a supported synced account.
