Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Elisabeth,
It sounds like you've already confirmed the usual "Don't save copies of sent messages" setting, so the duplication may be occurring elsewhere in the account or Outlook configuration rather than from that option alone.
You could try the following quick checks:
1, Start Outlook in Safe Mode
- Press Windows + R, type
outlook.exe /safe - Send a test email and check whether duplicates are still created.
2, Review any additional mail accounts
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings
- If multiple accounts are configured, check whether more than one account is saving sent items to the same mailbox.
3, Test in Outlook Web
- Send a message from Outlook on the web.
- If duplicates appear there as well, the behavior may be related to the mailbox rather than the Outlook desktop client.
4, Create a new Outlook profile
- Open Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles
- Create a new profile and test with the account.
If this behavior started recently and no configuration changes were made, it may also be worth checking whether any Outlook add-ins or recent updates coincide with when the issue began.
