If the account is an adult Microsoft account, update the birth date in the Microsoft account profile:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account profile for the account that needs to be updated.
- Edit the birth date details.
- Select Save.
If Microsoft is treating the account as a child account, the birth date usually cannot be changed directly from that account.
Use the path that matches the message shown:
- If the account shows “Parent or guardian consent is required for this account”:
- Sign in at
https://login.live.comto start a consent request. - Select I’m a parent or guardian.
- Sign in with an adult personal Microsoft account.
- Select Yes, I agree on the consent form.
- Select Family Safety.
- Go to
https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx. - Select Edit this child’s personal info and update the birth date.

- If the child account already has consent:
- Sign in with the adult Microsoft account that gave consent at
https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx. - Select Edit this child’s personal info and update the birth date.
- Sign in with the adult Microsoft account that gave consent at
Important:
- A child account cannot remove its own consent or edit its own birth date when the listed age is below the statutory age for that country or region.
- If the child is not listed, the signed-in adult does not have permission to edit that information.
- If sign-in is blocked, use the sign-in helper. Microsoft support can route technical help, but support agents cannot directly change account details.
