I recorded a meeting but now cannot find it. I searched file explorer for recordings and found nothing. I think I have MS Office personal.

    Hi @Renee Cohn

Since you mentioned having Microsoft 365 Personal, was the meeting recorded using Microsoft Teams with your personal Microsoft account?

If so, the recording would not automatically appear in File Explorer because it is initially stored online. Open Teams using the same account, then return to the original meeting chat and look for the recording. Teams Personal recordings remain available there for 30 days.

If it is not shown, please let us know approximately when the meeting took place and whether a notification confirmed that recording had started.

If this is Teams personal with a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, the recording is typically in the meeting chat after the recording stops.

    Try this:

    1. Open Teams.
    2. Go to the meeting chat for the meeting you recorded.
    3. Look for the recording there.
    4. If found, use Download under the recording date and time if a local copy is needed.

    Key details for Teams personal:

    • Recordings are available in the meeting chat after the recording stops.
    • The recording is saved in the cloud.
    • It remains available for 30 days unless downloaded.
    • Searching File Explorer may show nothing if the recording was never downloaded to the device.

If the recording is still missing:

    1. Check whether everyone saw the message that recording started. If there was no start message, the recording most likely did not start and can’t be recovered.
    2. If a confirmation dialog appeared when starting the recording, the recording only starts after Confirm is selected.
    3. If the recording started but is not in OneDrive, check whether it was deleted, moved, or expired, including the recycle bin and second-stage recycle bin.
    4. If a recording item appears in chat but failed to upload, it may be in temporary storage for 21 days, where it can be retried to OneDrive or downloaded locally.
    5. If the temporary-storage recording was permanently deleted, it can’t be recovered.

    For other Teams meeting types:

    • Non-channel meetings are stored in the organizer’s OneDrive in the Recordings folder.
    • Channel meetings are stored in the channel’s SharePoint site, on the Files tab.
