Downloaded file refuses to work

Evry time I open the Microsoft Excel through a fill sent by my teacher, Excel has an error message if I close and reopen like the message says to it will just do the same thing, and if I click repair now it will close the message and work just fine for 7 minutes then it will force close itself. How do we fix this?
