Capturing audio, video, and screen content from Teams meetings for later review or sharing
Dear Atayshia,
Thank you for the detail, and the message you saw about not being on the same server is a useful clue. It suggests you and the other person are in different organizations, which is also the most likely reason you cannot open the recording now. In that situation Teams stores the recording in the recorder's own OneDrive, and access is controlled by their organization rather than by you. Unfortunately, as a forum moderator, I am not able to open the recording or change its permissions. My role here is limited to general guidance you can apply from your side.
Ask the person who recorded or organized the call to:
- Open the recording from the Teams chat.
- Select Open in OneDrive.
- Select Share.
- Enter the exact email address you use for Teams and give you Can view access.
- Send you the new link.
When the link arrives, open it in a private browser window and sign in with the same address the access was granted to. That avoids picking up a different account you may already be signed into.
If their organisation blocks sharing with people outside it, the simplest option is for them to download the video file from their OneDrive and send it to you directly. If they would rather sort out the sharing properly, they will need to raise it with their IT administrator.
I hope this information is helpful and provides you with a clear path forward. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always happy to help. Do let me know if the new link still will not open for you.
