    Hello Laura Jahn,

Before changing any sync settings, please avoid clearing browsing data, removing either Edge profile, or resetting sync.

    On both computers, please check:

    1. Does Edge show the same Microsoft account under the profile icon?
    2. Is Settings > Profiles > Sync > Passwords enabled?
    3. Are any passwords listed under Settings > Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager?

Please share what you find on each computer. If any passwords still appear on either device, preserve or export them before making further changes.

I can't imagine how your passwords disappeared. That could have happened for many different reasons, and we don't know anything about how you use your computers. I only know how to make your passwords not disappear.

The way to keep your passwords from disappearing is to store them in a password manager. I use a third-party password manager, however, Microsoft Edge has a password manager built in. When you store your passwords in Microsoft Edge's password manager and then sync them to your Microsoft account, your passwords are available to you on any computer or other device where you sign in to the same Microsoft account.

In your case, if you were storing your passwords in Microsoft Edge's own password manager, and syncing them to your Microsoft account, when you receive a new computer, all you have to do is to sign in to Microsoft Edge on the new computer with the same Microsoft account, and your passwords instantly appear in Microsoft Edge on the new computer.

For detailed instructions on how to do these things, see Sign in to sync Microsoft Edge across devices. I can help you with those instructions.
