Thanks for the replies I got my answer through microsoft support chat, my original windows was 7 have been free upgrading every since and unfortunately that means due to the hardware change I need a new windows 11 key.

Now I did change motherboard but when I troubleshoot if says it can't find any windows 10 devices problem is I'm on windows 11 pro, I upgraded to 11 from 10 and them upgraded to pro from home, I don't know my product/digital license either I would really want this to be fixed asap.

When you upgraded from Home to Pro did you use the upgrade offer in the windows Store?
If you did it may depend on the Home edition licence you had originally. If that was supplied by the system builder/manufacturer then it could have been OEM.
If it was then that does not have transfer rights to new hardware (motherboard) so the Pro upgrade is no longer valid.

2026-09-03T14:51:12.71+00:00 Just as a comment. You need a new licence. Don't be tempted by cheap keys you may see for sale online.
They are often not valid and although they may activate initially that can be withdrawn in the future.

How did you obtain your original "home" edition license?
Did it come with the device, or did you purchase it?
If you purchased it, did you purchase it from Microsoft or a third party?
Is it originally a Win7/8 key?

As for the Windows 11 Pro license, did you purchase the full copy or the upgrade license. If you are not sure, how much did you pay for it? That will help me determine if it is full or upgrade license.

Hello it is exactly what you said it is. The error shows that the hardware of your computer has changed and that is the error. I do believe all you would need to do is tell the computer that you changed the hardware. If this do not work and the process is seeing this as a new computer then it is possible you will need to take the necessary steps to validate your licence. Since it is only a mother board and only one hardware component I believe that the I changed my hardware should work. Did you resently reinstall windows OR did you just swap out the motherboard? Was the old one broken? Any ways to be honest It should work as long as you just did a swap. I will also say sometimes it is really a flip of a coin and it works out for you or it dont and then we got to fix it with a new key.
