Hi,

The website favicon still hasn’t updated in the browser and the previous version is still being displayed.

Could you please clear or refresh the cache on your side so the new favicon is shown correctly?

Hi Jerry, I assume you're talking about your site's results in Bing Search results.

I wish we had the ability to refresh the favicon for your site. I would like to tell you that the request must be sent through. Bing Search Console app, since this forums are managed by non-Microsoft staff.

The link for webmasters support is below:

My experience with the website says that it takes around a week for the icon to refresh; site indexers are slow.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

No server-side cache refresh exists in Edge for this behavior. For saved site icons on the Edge new tab page, favicon selection is based on Edge’s local favicon cache and lookup order, and the host-level cache fallback can cause an older or incorrect icon to appear.

    Use these client-side steps:

    1. Open the exact page that should show the new favicon in Edge. This refreshes the favicon cache for that specific URL.
    2. If the old icon still appears, clear cached images and files:
      • Go to edge://settings/privacy
      • Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear
      • Select Cached images and files
      • Select Clear now
      • Revisit the site so Edge can cache the favicon again
    3. If needed, clear the favicon database manually. Risk: this removes stored favicons until sites are revisited.
      • Close Edge completely
      • In File Explorer, open %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
      • Delete Favicons and Favicons-journal
      • Restart Edge and revisit the site

After clearing the cache or favicon database, the icon can temporarily appear as a default letter icon until Edge downloads the favicon again.
