I want to add a device to my microsoft account (hp laptop)

Hello, I already have one asus laptop connected to my microsoft account and I now want to add another latop (hp) to my account. I have tried registering the device to the account and have given the correct serial number ("5CD1264JJM"). I would like to speak to someone about this and am confused as to why it is telling me I can't add it to my account as it "doesn't recognise the serial number".

The option to register your device on your Microsoft account using the Serial Number of the device only works for Microsoft manufactured devices like a Surface laptop... etc. it does not work for other devices.

The process to register your device is to ensure you log into the device with your Microsoft account, then ensure the Location Services setting and the 'Find My Device' setting is enabled in the Settings app, your device will then be automatically be added to your Microsoft account, that will not happen immediately, but it will happen eventually, because there is a widely reported problem with devices not showing up on the Microsoft account online, it is a server side problem Microsoft needs to fix.
