Try these Android OneNote sign-in and sync recovery steps in order:
- Update OneNote from the Google Play Store, then restart the app.
- In OneNote, go to Notebooks > three dots > Settings > Account > Sign Out > OK.
- Close OneNote completely from Android recent apps.
- Reopen OneNote and sign in again.
If the issue continues, check whether the account in OneNote is a phone-number-based personal account:
- Go to Settings > Accounts on the Android device.
- Under Personal Account, see whether only a phone number is listed.
- If so, and OneNote shows Account Error - Action Required, tap Add Email in the error message. Adding a valid email address to that phone-number account restores syncing.
If OneNote signs in but notebooks still do not sync:
- Keep OneNote in the foreground.
- Tap any yellow Saved offline (error) message bar to refresh.
- If the notebook is read-only, tap Refresh Now.
- If the error shown is E000006C / cig68, update OneNote first, then use the refresh prompt.
If the problem is account authentication related, OneNote may not have the correct account information. In that case:
- Use the same Microsoft account that owns the notebook.
- If the account password was changed recently, sign in again with the updated password.
- Try opening the notebook in OneNote for the web. If it opens there, close the app on the device and open the notebook again from OneDrive in the browser using the same account.
If the notebook cannot be opened in OneNote for the web, that points to a server-side issue. For notebooks stored on OneDrive, check the service status page for interruptions.
If this started after a recent Android app update and notes appear read-only or moved to Misplaced Sections, report the issue in the OneNote for Android forum.
