Try these steps in order:
- Check whether only the desktop shortcuts were removed.
- Right-click the desktop and select View.
- Make sure Show desktop icons is checked.
- Search the whole PC for the app files.
- Right-click Start and select File Explorer.
- In the left pane, select This PC.
- In the Search This PC box at the top right, type the app name or the name of one of its files.
- If the app files are found, the program may still be installed and only the shortcuts were deleted.
- If Search is not finding apps or files, run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter again from the indexing settings path.
- Right-click Start and select Search.
- Type Control Panel and open it.
- In the Search Control Panel box, type indexing.
- Select Indexing options > Advanced.
- Under Index Settings, select Troubleshoot search and indexing.
- Complete the wizard.
- If the app is still listed in Windows, try repairing it.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select the app.
- Open Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- If repair does not help, select Reset.
- Note: not all desktop apps have Repair or Reset.
- If the app is broken or missing after the Revo Uninstaller change, uninstall and reinstall it from Windows Settings.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select the affected app and choose Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
- Then install the app again.
- If files were actually deleted and are not in Recycle Bin, use Windows File Recovery.
- This is a command-line app from Microsoft Store for recovering deleted files from local storage devices.
- It does not support cloud storage or network file shares.
- Important: minimize use of the laptop before recovery, because new activity can overwrite deleted data and reduce recovery success.
If the apps work only when a shortcut exists, but cannot be found after the shortcut is deleted, that usually means Search or the app installation is damaged rather than the shortcut itself. In that case, the most relevant steps are Search and Indexing troubleshooter, then Repair, then Uninstall/Reinstall.
