Microsoft 365 Business- How to find Admin Details.??

Thank you for sharing the details of your situation.  

I understand that after moving from an iPhone to an Android device, you are no longer receiving Microsoft Authenticator notifications and have also forgotten the login details for your Microsoft 365 administrator account. 

The main issue is that access to your administrator account is still protected by the MFA method registered on your previous phone. 

To locate your original administrator account details, please check the email address that was used when you purchased Microsoft 365 in April 2026. This message often contains clues such as: 

• Your initial admin username 
• Your tenant domain (e.g., xxxx.onmicrosoft.com) 
• Then you can search your inbox with keywords: “Microsoft”, “Microsoft 365”, “Office 365”, “onmicrosoft.com”, “Welcome”, “Your account”. 
• Check Spam, Junk, Promotions, or Other folders (system emails can be filtered there). 

However, even if you recover the correct administrator username or reset its password, the MFA registration may still be linked to your previous iPhone.  

Therefore, I recommend the following checks: 

1/ Use another verification method 

• On the sign-in page, select Sign in another way or I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now, if available. Check whether you can verify your identity through SMS, a phone call, a security key, or another previously registered method. 
• If you still have access to your old iPhone and Authenticator is working there, use it to approve the sign-in. You can then add the Android device as a new authentication method. 

2/ Contact another administrator 

• If another Global Administrator exists in your Microsoft 365 organization, ask them to reset your authentication methods and require you to register MFA again on the new device.

3/ If you are the only administrator and cannot access your account: 

In this case, I recommend reach out to the Data Protection team to perform the required identity and ownership verification process and assist you with recovering access to the administrator account.

Due to the sensitive nature of Global Administrator privileges, Microsoft must complete the required ownership verification before any MFA reset or tenant recovery action can be performed. 

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:  

(When you call the support number, you may hear an introduction of about 30 seconds such as "you can visit the link...". You can ignore this introduction and wait until you are presented with the options. Then press "1" as a business email user, and again "1" for technical help.)    

In some regions, the initial interaction may be automated, so here’s a general idea of how the conversation might go to help you prepare:      

• What kind of problem are you experiencing?         
• Answer: Authenticator  
• What products do you use?         
• Answer: Office 365 for business         
• Is this for an education or company account?         
• Answer: For companies         
• Are you an administrator?         
• Answer: Yes         
• Are there any other administrators in your organization?         
• Answer: No. I am the only admin in my tenant          
• Do you need a... Service request?          
• Answer: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me direct to the Data Protection Teams.      

When reaching out to the Data Protection team, please be prepared to provide any requested information, such as: 

• Tenant name/domain 
• Affected administrator account 
• Microsoft 365 subscription details 
• Proof of tenant/domain ownership, if required 
• Billing or subscription-related verification information 
• Any organizational documents requested by the recovery team

The account will need to go through Microsoft's account recovery process.

First, try signing in with the company email adress through the Microsoft 365 admin portal. If you are prompted for Authenticator approval that you cannot complete, look for an option such as "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now" or "Use another verification method".

If no alternative verification method is availble, you will need to contact Microsoft 365 Business Support and explain that you are the company owner and have lost access to the administrator account and the registered Authenticator device. Microsoft may ask you to verify ownership of the business and the Microsoft 365 subscription before restoring access.
