got a notice on my phone today (moto G play 2024) that i needed to enter my credentials with hotmail. i did this many times through 2FA, and it never worked. tried loggiong in through Outlook on my desktop. was able to change my password through 2FA and it says im logged into Outlook, but it wont show anything on my PC and keeps telling me to refresh.
went back to my phone and re-entered everything with the new password. keep getting an authentication error. tried logging in again via 2FA. nothing. deleted hotmail from my email app, reinstalled it and same results, or lack thereof. downloaded the Outlook app from the play store. i cant log in via 2FA or my new password because it times out and i nave to refresh the app, only for it to time out and asks me to refresh again. and again. same thing trying to log in via Outlook on my browser.
what am i doing wrong? whats the problem? mail was syncing as recently as a few hours ago, and ive never had this problem before.

I think there's something going on Microsoft's end right now. I am seeing many people reporting this issue, but Microsoft has not announced this on their service status page. However, there's an active service incident report on the commercial side. It can be related. You can use Microsoft's X/Twitter account page to check for update

This is the latest update Microsoft shares. The keyword here is "progressively", I know some users already reported that theirs are working now, so hopefully it won't be long now.
We're progressively restarting targeted sections of affected infrastructure to ensure the re-applied authentication components are effectively implemented across affected services. We expect this will aid the recovery of affected scenarios. Users should expect delayed delivery of backlogged messages and residual impact across downstream scenarios as these actions are continuing. We'll provide an expected recovery time as soon as one becomes available to us.
Well, it's working in the Outlook app, but I still can't authenticate in my Google email app. Oh well. I'm slowly doing what I can to quit relying on Google for everything, so I'll take it as a reason to get better about that
Sorry, this is the first time I heard about Google Mail app. What's the Google Mail app relation here when it comes to hotmail.com/outlook?
I guess it's just the Gmail app/tile on my android phone. I've always accessed my hotmail account on that, but now I can't.
Since it is working in the Outlook app, I am afraid this is a Gmail specific issue. Have you tried removing it, adding it back and choose the Exchange option?
