Can’t log into my Hotmail account

This is a newer account I created on Microsoft, but I can’t log into my Hotmail account that I’ve had since 2009 or 2010. I tried contacting the live chat support thing, and they sent me a link to verify my identity or whatever, at https://support.xbox.com/en-US/forms/recover-your-microsoft-account

I filled out the form but I’m still not able to login. I don’t have the same phone number I have on the account, and I don’t recognize the email when it gave me an option to send a code to the email. I haven’t been on the account in years

If the Hotmail account has not been signed in to for more than 2 years, it may have been deleted due to inactivity and can no longer be reopened.

If it was used within that period, the supported recovery path is:

    1. Use Sign-in Helper to identify the account issue and the next recovery step.
    2. If the username is not recognized or the password stopped working, use Recover your account and enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name tied to that Hotmail account.
    3. If prompted for a security code, choose an available verification method. If the old phone number no longer works, try another alias or phone number that was added to the account.
    4. Check that the email domain is correct, such as the right Hotmail/Outlook/Live country domain like .com or .co.uk, and that the email name is typed correctly.
    5. If the account still shows “We couldn't find an account with that username”, use the support contact option and report that the username has stopped working.

    Important:

    • Microsoft support agents are not allowed to send password reset links or access and change account details.
    • If travelling or signing in from a new device, Microsoft may require extra identity verification.
    • For Hotmail, sign in through Outlook.com because Hotmail is now Outlook.com.
