Trying to use copilot to help compose better emails. This feature does not appear to be available at the moment, although it was working a few days ago.

If Copilot was working in classic Outlook a few days ago and is now missing, this matches a known Outlook issue.

If classic Outlook for Windows updated to build 20026.20182 or later, Copilot entry points can disappear, be unavailable, or appear grayed out. Reported symptoms include:

    • Copilot missing above the ribbon
    • Copilot missing from the left app bar
    • Copilot shown in Add Apps but Open does nothing
    • Copilot command unavailable or grayed out

Use this check and workaround path:

    1. In Outlook, go to File > Office Account and check the Outlook build.
    2. If the build is 20026.20182 or higher, this is a known issue under investigation.
    3. As a workaround, use new Outlook or Outlook on the web.
    4. If Copilot Draft in a new email shows "Sorry, something went wrong. Copilot is working on it.", that specific issue was fixed by a service change. Restart Outlook to pick up the fix.

A few common actions have been tried in affected cases without consistently restoring the Copilot button:

    • Creating a new Outlook profile
    • Clearing Outlook cache and local configuration data
    • Re-signing into Office apps
    • Restarting Outlook and Windows

Also confirm these general requirements if the issue is broader than classic Outlook:

    • Copilot in Outlook works only on the primary mailbox
    • It is not available for archive, group, shared, or delegate mailboxes
    • The mailbox must be hosted on Exchange Online
    • Chat with Copilot in Outlook is available only with a work or school account in new Outlook for Windows or Outlook on the web
