The notebook doesn't float in the class notebook

When you click Add/Remove Students in Teams or OneNote, the class notebook that you have already created on the linked class notebook site does not appear.

If it says that there is no class notebook created, you cannot add/remove students.

What should I do?

    Dear Monroe Eira,

I understand that when you select Add/Remove Students in Teams or OneNote, the Class Notebook that is already linked to your class does not appear, and the system indicates that no Class Notebook has been created. I can appreciate how frustrating this can be when you need to manage student access.

In my test environment, I was able to reproduce the same issue. When I select Add/Remove Students in Teams, the Class Notebook that is already linked to the class does not appear, and I receive the error shown in the screenshot.

As a temporary workaround, I recommend managing class membership directly:

    1. Open the Class Team in Microsoft Teams.
    2. Select the More options (...).
    3. Choose Manage team.
    4. Open the Members tab.
    5. To add a student, select Add member and enter the student's name or email address.
    6. To remove a student, locate the student under Members and guests and select the X next to their name.
    7. Allow some time for the changes to synchronize, then verify that the notebook access has been updated.

In addition, I recommend reviewing this article Class Notebook and following the guidance under the Troubleshooting section, which includes solutions for common Class Notebook issues.

If the issue persists after completing the troubleshooting steps in the article, I recommend creating a support ticket with the support team for further investigation, as this may require backend analysis of the Class Notebook configuration.

The support team over there has higher permission than us, they can help check the situation on your side, involve more resource to collect logs and help you do troubleshoot. This would be a more efficient way in handling this case for you.

Welcome to share any updates when you have time if you need further help on this issue.

Thank you very much for your valuable time and your cooperation. Hope you having a nice day and really much warm regards to you as well!

This usually happens when the notebook was created from Microsoft Teams. In that case, the notebook will not appear in the Class Notebook Wizard list for Add/Remove Students, and membership cannot be managed there.

Use the roster source that created the notebook:

    1. If the notebook was created in Teams, add or remove students from the class team membership in Microsoft Teams.
    2. If the notebook was created as a standalone notebook from microsoft365.com or aka.ms/classnotebook, manage students in the Class Notebook Wizard.
    3. If the notebook was created through Microsoft 365 LTI, update the LMS course roster.

If newly added students still do not appear in the notebook after updating membership:

    1. Open Microsoft Teams.
    2. Go to the Class team where the notebook is located.
    3. Select Class Notebook.

This triggers provisioning so new members are seen in the notebook.

If the notebook is a standalone Class Notebook and students are missing, add them again:

    1. Sign in to microsoft365.com with the school account.
    2. Select Class Notebook > Add or remove students.
    3. Select the notebook.
    4. Enter the student's name, school email address, or group name.
    5. Select Update.

After students are added, their personal section usually appears within 5 minutes the next time the Class Notebook tab is opened. If it has been more than 15 minutes, reopen the Class Notebook tab in Teams to trigger provisioning.
